Laser Tattoo Removal Santa Ana & San Clemente
Before lasers, tattoo removal was accomplished only by painful removal of the skin tissue, either by surgical excisions or dermabrasion resulting in scars that were sometimes worse than the tattoos themselves.
These days thanks to laser tattoo removal, a tattoo does not have the same permanence that it used to have. The Q-switch laser is highly effective in removing amateur tattoos as well as multi-colored professional tattoos without adverse effects. The number of sessions required is dependant upon the size and color range of the tattoo.
More then half of all people who have gotten tattoos regret it. Reasons for wanting to get a tattoo removed are as varied as our clients. Some may want to remove a symbol of the past or are unhappy with their artwork and still others may have simply outgrown their tattoo. There are many common misconceptions about tattoo removal. People think it is very expensive, it is extremely painful, it leaves scars, etc. Initial consultations with Orange County cosmetic surgery provider Dr. Roham are complimentary. When you come for your consultation, we will let you know how much each treatment will cost.
How it Works?
The laser shatters the pigment of the tattoo; pigment then disperses throughout the skin and is carried away by cells of the immune system. Darker tattoos are usually easier to remove because they absorb the light better. Doctor uses a green light to remove red ink and a red light to remove green ink. The color of a tattoo will determine which laser or light color will be used to dissolve and remove the tattoo. The depth & density of the ink is a major determining factor in successfully removing a tattoo. After each treatment, the laser fragments more ink and penetrates a little deeper into the skin. Often blistering and scabbing will follow a tattoo removal session.
How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of this procedure, it is impossible to predict exactly how many treatments it will take for complete results. Several factors are involved when predicting how quickly your ink fades, such as the colors of your tattoo and the type of ink used. It takes time for your body to break down the tattoo ink pigments after each laser treatment. This is a slow process; you will typically schedule each treatment a minimum of 6 weeks apart.
What will my skin look like after each treatment?
Your skin will most likely be red and feel like it has mild sunburn. There may be mild blistering that usually heals in about a week
Will the laser tattoo removal hurt?
Patients have reported that laser tattoo removal feels like a rubber band snapping your skin. We offer numbing cream that may be applied on the tattoo 30- 45 minutes before each treatment.
