Facelift Santa Ana & San Clemente
Aging is a multifactorial process and to have a natural rejuvenated look one must address all the different aspects of aging. The three contributing factors of aging are:
- Loss of facial volume (addressed by fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and autologous fat transfers)
- Skin wrinkling and age spots (treated with peels and lasers)
- Face and neck sagging and drooping (improved by a lifting procedure)
The main areas treated by a Facelift are the neck, cheeks, and the areas around the jaw line often referred to as the jowls. The mini face lift, often called the “weekend facelift,” the “lifestyle lift,”one hour face lift, quick lift , micro lift addresses the third component of aging and decreases signs of aging in the neck and jowl areas of the face. Most often, this procedure is performed in conjunction with a chemical peel or laser resurfacing and volume restoration with fillers; these two procedures are performed together because a face lift does not change the facial volume and quality of the skin.
The Mini Face Lift Procedure
Orange County facelift surgeon Dr. Roham offers the procedure on an outpatient basis. The procedure usually takes three to four hours to perform, depending on the degree of correction needed. San Clemente cosmetic surgeon Dr. Roham can perform the facelift procedure under local anesthesia, but prefers to perform it under I.V. sedation or twilight anesthesia in order to keep the patient more comfortable. In the face lift operation, small incisions are made in camouflaged areas in front and in the back of the ear. We take pride in paying meticulous attention to the placement of the incision to promote an inconspicuous scar in our facelift surgery.
These incisions are made to gain access to the underlying muscle tissue in order to fully release and reposition these sagging weakened muscle tissues layer into a more youthful and rejuvenated position.
In the facelift operation it is crucial for the skin to be meticulously re-draped into position without tension. Excess skin is removed as needed to make a natural and rested look.
The mini facelift operation is essentially an extended neck lift which results in a suture suspension of the neck, as well as the skin of the jowls. These are lifted to improve the jowl appearance. In cases where the jowls are heavy, liposuction may be used in addition to lifting of the skin to give a much more defined jaw line. Additionally if there are any bands present in the neck they are also removed.
Benefits of Mini Facelift
- Less costly if a full face lift is not needed
- More natural results vs. a done look
- An excellent alternative to facelift for a long term result
- A lighter surgery and faster recovery
Mini Face Lift Risks
The Mini facelift procedures carry fewer risks than traditional facelift procedures because they are less invasive and can be performed under local anesthesia or I.V. sedation. The risks in a facelift operation include post-operative swelling, bleeding (bruising), visible scarring, nerve damage (often temporary and usually resolve with time). Moreover, refraining from smoking and carefully following the pre-and post-operative surgical instructions reduces the likelihood of these complications.
